Milton Francis Britto was born on Monday, March 5, 1928 at Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, New York. There was something special about him from birth; an elderly family friend looked at him and prophesied that he would be a preacher. Milton’s parents were both immigrants; his mother was born in Barbados and his father in Portugal. In 1946 at the end of WWII, Milton enlisted in the army and served until 1947. He was stationed in Hawaii, Guam, and Saipan. In 1950 Milton married Hattie Mines who introduced him to Triumph, The Church of the New Age. The following year on Easter Sunday Milton joined the Church under the late Bishop Q.B. Williams, the Presiding Senior Bishop.
In 1952 after having already been in the military he was drafted by the US army and served in the Korean War. He was stationed in Goose Bay Labrador, Hawaii, Japan and Korea. While serving in the military Milton had a life changing experience when he prayed to God to spare his life and he would serve him the rest of his life; immediately he was protected. Following his tour of duty his commitment to God and Triumph Church grew based on his experience.
In 1954, the word prophesied over his life in infancy came true when he was licensed as Minister in Triumph Church. In 1958 he was ordained an Elder. Shortly after being ordained, he was assigned to open a branch of Triumph in Manhattan where he served as pastor until he was reassigned as pastor of the Brooklyn church where he served faithfully until he was elevated to the office of Senior Bishop in 2015.
In 1994 he lost his devoted and loving wife of 44 years, Hattie Britto. Together they had built strong family ties throughout the church community. The loss of his devoted wife was a devastating blow to him but he continued to serve God and remained faithful to his ministry in Triumph Church. In January 1997 Milton once again found love and married Saundra Y. Addison. He relocated to New Jersey after being a lifelong resident of Brooklyn. Together they built a strong family, through parenting, holding weekly Bible study in their home, and supporting family and friends throughout the community.
At the age of 87 he accepted the mantle of Senior Bishop and embarked upon a journey that would test his character, strength of endurance and commitment to God and the Triumph Church. As Senior Bishop, he successfully led Triumph Church through the darkest period in its one hundred and sixteen (116) year history; except for the great schism that occurred in 1920 after the death of the founder. In 2003 the Brooklyn Church building was damaged by fire and the congregation for the first time since 1943 was without a place to worship. Milton’s commitment to God and his congregation was to stay the course until they were made whole again. In July 2019 after successfully securing a new building for the Church (1037 E 92nd Street, Brooklyn, NY) he announced his semi-retirement from his position as Senior Bishop. In September 2019 he appointed a Board of Trustees to manage the Church in his stead.
Today, he is enjoying the fruit of his labor. He is the reigning Elder of the newly established Triumph Life Center & Spiritual Connections Café (a community based ministry of Triumph Church) and is once again mentoring young women and men as they grow spiritually.
