Warren is currently a Professor in the Social Work department in the School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University-Newark.Warren has a rich history of working with marginalized populations and has recently served as the Director of Operations for Integrity, Inc.; the Program Director of Urban Renewal Corp.'s Residential Community Corrections and Emergency Housing Divisions and the Program Director of the Residential Community Release Programs for Volunteers of America - Northern New Jersey.In these roles, Warren has overseen the overall operations of multiple facilities that provide addiction treatment service, pro-social re-entry programming for individuals returning home from the criminal justice system and emergency shelter for our neighbors without addresses in the greater Newark, NJ area. Warren's responsibilities have included ensuring that programmatic strategy provides effective evidence informed interventions designed for individual empowerment, promotion of public safety and the minimization of risk for any future criminal and/or anti-social behavior.Warren has been active on many boards, panel discussions and community interests. He has participated in the NAACP conference; Seton Hall University Law School's Symposium on Reentry; NJ Center of Gun Violence Research conference and Rutgers University School of Social Work's Panel on Social Policy Advocacy. He has had media appearances with former Newark Mayor Cory Booker to discuss the value of reentry services to strengthen the family and community, as well as presented regularly on racial inequity and systemic change to various organizations. His social activism includes involvement on the U.S. Marshall's Fugitive Safe Surrender Advisory Board, Newark Prisoner Reentry Initiative Advisory Committee, Essex/Union County Reentry Task Forces, Essex County Drug Court Alumni Advisory Committee, Reentry Coalition of New Jersey, Integrated Justice Alliance, Newark Community Collaborative Board, Westfield Community Center Board, Essex County Homeless Trust Fund Board, Rowan University Criminal Justice Advisory Board and the Equal Justice USA Trauma Training for Law Enforcement/Community Committee. At present he is serving as the chair of the Triumph Life Center Board of Directors.Warren Thompson was raised and currently resides in Westfield, NJ. He graduated from Westfield High School. Warren is an alumnus of Rutgers University where he achieved his Bachelor of Arts and Master degrees from the School of Social Work as an advanced standing student in Non-profit and Public Administration.
